Rajiv Ratn SHAH

Assistant Professor,

Department of Computer Science and Engineering (joint appointment with the Department of Human-centered Design)

Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi (IIIT-Delhi).

Recently, I have selected for the Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF) 2018 fellowship. 200 most qualified young researchers across the world are provided an opportunity to meet Laureates in Computer Science and Mathematics for a week at Heidelberg.

I have received the prestigious ERCIM Alain Bensoussan Fellowship 2017 from Eurpean Union. Since ERCIM (European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics) offers this felloship to candidates who have finished their PhD in the last eight years, it is very difficult to get this fellowship due to tough competition. Less than 10 candidates are selected from 145 candidates this year.

We won the best paper award for our paper, titled, "A General Feature-based Map Matching Framework with Trajectory Simplification", in the 7th ACM SIGSPATIAL International Workshop on GeoStreaming (IWGS) 2016 at San Francisco, USA. This news was covered by NUS School of Computing. Moreover, I have awarded student travel grants from SIGMM to attend the ACM Multimedia at Amsterdam, The Netherlands and ACM ICMR at New York, USA to present my research papers.

During the ACM Multimedia 2015 at Brisbane, Australia, I won the second prize Yahoo! Flickr Event Summarization Challenge.

I have awarded several significant and prestigious awards and scholarships throughout my career, both in company and academia. I am listing a few of them here. I won a prestigious Snap award in the recognition of remarkable commitment and excellent quality focus in meeting all milestones of eGTP stack release 1.0 at Aricent Technologies. Moreover, I have awarded prestigious scholarship such as Erasmus Mundus and NUS Research scholarships to pursue the master and PhD. I have also recieved scholrships to attend the Cisco Video Workshop in 2013 and 2015 at San Jose, USA and Paris, France, respectively. During my PhD, I have also selected for six months overseas internships at National Institute of Informatics, Tokyo, Japan and National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan in the year 2014 and 2015, respectively. I was among the top 0.6% students in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2011, in which more than 140,000 engineering students appeared. I was presented with the Award of Excellence by Professional Tutorials, Varanasi for cracking the MCA entrance examination with 3rd rank in UPMCA, 12th rank in BHU, 17th rank in JNU, and 71st rank in NIMCET. I was the topper in the Mathematics course during the 2nd year of BSc with 88% marks.
