User Controlled Information Dissemination for Security and Privacy in Location-based Services (2011-2014)

This project is funded by Department of Science and Technology, India through SERC Fast Track Scheme for Young Scientist.

The project focusses on the privacy concerns in location-based services and proposes to provide some control to the end user to decide on the trade-off between privacy and usability. Usually a user does not know the efficacy of existing privacy preserving solutions. Therefore, the solutions which let the user know the risk of disclosing their location/path information would be a useful and practical approach. With this hypothesis, we intend to design and implement a prototype system which can be used by a novice users to analyze their privacy risk in the contest of already deployed privacy preserving solutions. It will allow a user to take an informed decision so as to better protect their privacy.
