Resource Allocation in G.fast

G.fast is an emerging broadband standard that aims to deliver data at high speeds using a copper-fiber hybrid network. G.fast standards define Discontinuous Operation, whereby some users may stop transmitting/receiving in a time slot, thereby reducing power consumption. The data rates achieved by the users then vary according to the set of users transmitting together in a time slot. We exploit the scope of reducing the total power consumption by scheduling users to time slots in such a way that the minimum rate requirements of the users are satisfied.
