Smarter Planet and Big Data Analytics Workshop Co-located with International Conference on Distributed Computing and Networking January 4th, 2014 Amrita University, Coimbatore Call for Papers
About the workshop:
Scientific breakthroughs are being increasingly powered by advanced computing capabilities that help researchers manipulate and explore massive datasets. The speed at which any given scientific discipline advances will depend on how well its researchers collaborate with one another, and with technologists, in areas of eScience such as databases, workflow management, visualization, and cloud computing technologies. Crunching big data has become imperative and provides a competitive advantage to business entities in all industrial verticals. However, it requires addressing technical challenges injected from multiple dimensions. Smarter Planet adds to a dimension of bringing the data into the system from several sources. Supporting real time processing of large volumes of data (which are also velocity driven, veracity driven) starts with source of “Big data”, their method of data dissipation, taking the data seamlessly into the computing clusters and providing the value back. It opens up a pandora box of problems thus requiring the academic and industry community to work synchronously in addressing the issues.
The workshop will focus on ideas, thoughts and research papers that will elicit the technical challenges in “enabling and providing” big data analytics. It aims to provide an inter-disciplinary platform to being issues related to enabling the orchestration and utilization of Big data to provide “Intelligence” on demand to both the consumers and the enterprises.
The workshop will be half day event comprising of a talk by distinguished researchers in the area of distributed computing, followed by selected technical papers presentation. A list of topics for paper submissions to this workshop are mentioned below. Submission of position papers, work in progress, research papers, applied research in specific Smarter Planet domains; experiments with real world Smarter Planet applications, challenges in adopting various technologies to enable enterprise analytical solutions are welcome. Higher preference would be given to papers aimed at the intersection of Smarter Planet and Big Data.
