Abstract:
In this talk, I will spend first 15 minutes to describe my research interests. The problems or research areas include OCR, IT for Management and ERP systems. The second part of the talk will be devoted to discussing Extended Technology Acceptance Model (ETAM) and its application in real life. ETAM has two exogenous variables- Communication and training that can be controlled and managed to achieve good acceptance levels for a new technology in an organization and mitigate resistance. We used ETAM in two real life situations and in one research setting. In one real life situation, we assessed the level of acceptance for the ERP system that was about to be deployed using ETAM and made specific recommendations to the management. In another situation, where a government department was involved and wanted to deploy RFID based system, we discovered that the situation was very challenging. We will talk about some of these challenges and recommended solutions.
