ECE 520: Analog Circuit Design

Course Outline and Policy

Description

This course introduces the basic analog building blocks (CS, CG, CD amplifiers) and quantifies their performance parameters. More advanced circuits (cascade, current mirror, differential amplifier) arederived from these basic building blocks. Concepts of feedback and stability are introduced to enable analysis of complex circuits. The courses will wrap-up with some analysis of multi-stage op-amps. There is also a lab component in which the students will learn Spice and Cadence tools. The tools will be available for self-learning. However, TA will also be available 2 hours per week to assist the students.

Postcondition On the completion of this course the students will be able to:
1. Have a basic knowledge of the fundamental concepts of active circuits and their analysis techniques
2. Acquire the ability to analyze and solve moderately complex MOS based circuits
3. Particularly understand the theory and operation of circuit components and circuits such as Current Mirror, Linear Amplifier, Differential Amplifier, Power Amplifier etc.

Home assignments are to be submitted by the due date.

Plagiarism is forbidden and will be seriously dealt with as per institute policy.

Attandance and Class Room Behavior 1. Students will be responsible for all course materials, announcements, notes etc. made during the regular class times.
2. Prompt arrival to the class is requested.
3. Smoking, drinking, and eating are prohibited in the class.
4. You need to switch off your Laptops, Phones, PDAs etc. in the class.
